Is life just a living hell?

Sometimes, life can seem like a living hell. I often sit and wonder why we have so much weight carrying around on our shoulders, when life is so short. Today you are here, tomorrow you may not be. It is easy to forget how precious life is when we are facing what seems like insurmountable mountains in our lives.

There is a song along this line, the title is, “Hell is other people.” It’s by Bettie Serveert. This, of course is a quote from Sartre in his 1944 play “No Exit.” It begins with three people finding themselves in a room together. The room, of course, is earth and our existence upon it.

Basically, it boils down to some pretty obvious signs. You consistently are made to feel guilty, whether you did anything wrong or not. Everybody’s wrong sometimes, and everybody cries sometimes (so says R.E.M.).

Is the world filled with suffering and anguish?

Yes, the world and life in general is filled with suffering and anguish. Our sense of control of ourselves and the things we do are illusory. We can think of it that way.

Work out. Run, swim, do yoga and BREATHE BIG. Do whatever it takes to flood your system with fresh blood and oxygen. There are good reasons why working out squashes depression. Google it if you’re not convinced. On top of that: you don’t need to think to work out, that’s great when you feel you have Mayo instead of a brain.
